I’m a beauty writer and I can’t put down this £23 dewy skin tint

THERE’S a photo of me from last summer, where my forehead looks so shiny that it actually whites out the camera. Needless to say, oil control is a must for my combination skin, but I’m not a fan of mattifying formulas, as they tend to leave skin looking dry and two-dimensional.

But here’s the issue – many products that promise dewy-looking results, actually result in greasy, gleaming skin (with the aforementioned photo being my case and point).

So, for so long, I felt like I couldn’t win – either I succumbed to looking like an oil slick or embraced the dry look.

At least, that’s until I discovered Sculpted By Aimee HydraTint (£23).

Spend a day with me and you’ll hear me rave about this skin tint at least once.

With its lightweight, serum-like texture, this tint sinks into the skin and is possibly the easiest base product I’ve ever applied.

Can’t find your brush? No problem? Only got five minutes to apply it? Plenty of time. Do your makeup in the dark? It’ll still look great.

Despite working in beauty, I’m incredibly low maintenance (AKA lazy) with my make-up routine and will boycott any product that’s too much faff to apply.

Fortunately, Sculpted By Aimee HydraTint couldn’t be easier thanks to its thin, liquid formula which can be patted, buffed or massaged into skin.

To apply, I buff the tint into my skin using dual-ended IT Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Complexion Perfection Brush, £30.40, then use its concealer brush end to blend hard-to-reach areas like the contours of my nose.

When I’m heading on holiday, and tight on baggage space, I’ll forgo my concealer and pack this tint instead, as it can also be patted into dark circles and over blemishes.

Thanks to my combination skin, I often experience dry patches – and covering them up is no mean feat.

So many concealers or foundations set into dry skin, leaving a rough and uneven finish.

But this is where Hydratint reigns supreme, as its moisturising formula (which is infused with hydrating hyaluronic acid) glides over dry skin and hydrates the area rather than just covering it up.

Before I became a loyal devotee, I came close to never trying Hydratint, thanks to its subtle, powdery scent.

As I rule, I keep my skin and make-up routine free of scented products, as so many of them irritate my complexion.

However, I’ve never had a problem with HydraTint, although I do exercise caution when blending it into my eye contour area.

Despite misting my face in spritz after a spritz of setting spray, many foundations slide down my face by lunchtime, thanks to my oily skin.

However, this isn’t the case with Hydratint, which instead sinks into skin, covering imperfections and hydrating as it goes.

My favourite element of HydraTint, though, is its radiant, dewy finish – which never errs on the side of greasy or oily.

The tint provides skin with a subtle, gorgeous veil, which enhances your skin rather than just covering it up.

I could write page after page about how HydraTint aligns with the ‘clean girl aesthetic’ or ‘barely there’ make-up look, but the results speak for themselves.

Whilst I tend to wear the tint alone (sometimes adding some setting powder to my forehead and T-zone), you could use Hydratint as a hydrating, perfecting base before applying a full-coverage foundation, too.
