Nita Ambani dazzles in Hyderabadi kurta, khada dupatta look, know about this ancient style

Amid the ongoing festivities of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, Nita Ambani surprised netizens with her haldi ceremony look.

Nita swapped her usual saree and lehenga collection for a traditional Hyderabadi kurta and khada dupatta designed by Manish Malhotra. This ancient sartorial style, known as Chaugoshiya includes a fitted choli, a loose kurti, tight pyjamas, and a five-meter khada dupatta.

The Chaugoshiya, a 150-year-old clothing style, is traditionally worn by Hyderabadi Muslim women during their nikah or wedding. Its origin dates back to the Mughal era in the 17th century.

The Chaugoshiya underwent several modifications introduced by the Begums of Nizam. Despite its noble origins, the ensemble transcended social barriers and became a popular choice among women of various backgrounds in Hyderabad. This sartorial style has been passed down through many generations, maintaining its original elegance and demonstrating that traditions never go out of fashion.

Manish Malhotra designed an antique gold ensemble for Nita Ambani, inspired by the Chaugoshiya. Her attire included a Hyderabadi kurta paired with a double-draped khada dupatta adorned with zari work, timeless zardosi embroidery, and an intricate silver-gold Chatai border. She accessorized with ornate haath phool, dangling earrings, and a mang tika.

Nita Ambani styled her hair with loose waves parted in the center. Her makeup featured a mauve lip shade, defined brows, a delicate red bindi, kohl-rimmed eyes, black eyeliner, pink eyeshadow, and rosy cheekbones.
