Austin Creative Reuse hosts annual Holiday Market

Austin Creative Reuse (ACR) hosted their 4th annual Holiday Reuse Market on Sunday afternoon. This is their first weekend of this year’s event, it will extend next weekend for their second weekend.

The market has been completely or partially financed by the City of Austin’s Elevate Grant Program over the years.

The event was held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., and it featured handmade items from more than 100 local artists and creatives. Items that were featured by vendors included handmade, vintage items and upcycled creations.

“I’ve been making jewelry since I was 6,” market vendor Olivia Mitchell, 11, said. “My aunt taught me how to start making jewelry.”

The main focus of the event was to reuse materials for the items made by the local artists.

“All of the artists that vend with us have unique, handmade items that they create out of reuse materials,” ACR Executive Director Jennifer Evans said. “We’ve got folks who work with clothing and accessories, jewelry, home goods, and some folks who work with planters.”

Food trucks, a photo booth, and activities for kids were provided for attendees. Austin Creative Reuse’s Board of Directors also hosted a raffle and donated all profits directly to the ACR nonprofit.
