A White Blonde Beyoncé Dazzles In Disco-Ready Versace At The Renaissance Film Premiere

Last night, a star-studded Hollywood guestlist – from Janelle Monáe to Lupita Nyong’o to Issa Rae – descended on the Samuel Goldwyn Theater to celebrate the premiere of Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé, walking a chrome-coloured carpet that honoured the retro-futuristic spirit of Beyoncé’s latest project. A three-hour cinematic extravaganza documenting the star’s blockbuster Renaissance World Tour, the film was recorded over a number of concerts earlier this year, and reportedly includes both live performances and behind-the-scenes footage documenting the creation of the critically-acclaimed spectacle.

Another reason so many stars showed up last night? The hope of seeing one person and one person only: Beyoncé. (Well, maybe Blue Ivy too, given her show-stopping dancing on stage during the tour.) While reports from the event suggested Beyoncé had made a low-key entrance to the event, sneaking into the cinema to watch the film with her family, it turns out she did indeed walk the chrome carpet – and naturally, nobody delivered on the night’s theme of “cosy opulence” quite like her.

Wearing a shimmering liquid silver Versace gown, meticulously tailored to fit every curve and with a pair of matching latex silver gloves, the star looked ready to hit the Studio 54 dance floor. Also worth noting: Beyoncé’s minimal beauty look, with just a light sprinkling of silver eye shadow and her hair worn waist-length in a Targaryen-worthy shade of ice blonde. To quote Beyoncé herself? It should cost a billion to look this good.

Donatella Versace herself even took to Instagram to praise the star (“You’re one of one, the only one,” she wrote, quoting “I’m That Girl” from Renaissance), and to express her excitement for the film. With another premiere set to take place in London on Thursday, the Beyhive will be on the lookout this week for more surprise appearances from Queen B – and more glittering gowns, with the dress code for the London event being “formal opulence”. With last night’s premiere look, she’s already upped the fashion stakes.
