Activities to do post-Thanksgiving in the Sacramento region

The Folsom Ice Rink this Thanksgiving was filled with people there for all sorts of occasions: Post-meal fun for children and even some newlyweds.It’s one of the many activities to enjoy this long, festive weekend in downtown Folsom.”We expect it to start getting a lot busier just because it’s Thanksgiving break for high schoolers and such. After Thanksgiving, a lot of people are going to be coming back home and by December we expect to start selling out,” said Nathan Johnson, a manager at the ice rink.The ice rink has a maximum capacity of 200 people and it runs through Jan. 15, 2024.It’s open from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.Adults pay $20 and children $15.Below are more weekend events and click here for a full roundup of holiday tree-lighting festivities through the beginning of December.Sacramento Ice RinkThe Sacramento Ice Rink is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The regular ticket price is $15 and children six and under get in for $8.ImaginariumCal Expo’s Imaginarium is also open from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tickets for adults are $23 and children ages 3-12 get in for $19. You’ll have to pay more to get on the rides.Stockton Lantern FestivalThe Stockton Lantern Festival is open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets are $19 for children ages 2-12 and $23 for anyone 13 and older.”Theatre of Lights” in Old SacramentoThe Theatre of Lights includes a unique light show that tells the history of Old Sacramento and a retelling of “Twas the Night Before Christmas.” It runs Thursday through Sunday with shows from 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Nevada County Country Christmas Faire The Country Christmas Faire runs through Sunday, Nov. 26, and features items made by more than 100 artisans. There’s also food and wagon rides, along with Santa. Admission costs $5. Old Town Elk Grove Dickens Street FaireExplore Old Town shops and see Santa at the Old Town Elk Grove Dickens Street Faire on Saturday. There are more than 125 arts and craft vendors, along with food trucks and more. A Christmas Tree lighting takes place at 6 p.m. Check out a concertTalib Kweli performs at Harlow’s on Saturday and Kesha performs at Hard Rock Live on Sunday.MOSACThe SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity in Sacramento is open weekdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Learn more about their exhibits here. Go to the drive-in Stay toasty in your car while checking out a movie at West Wind Drive-In. You can also order food online and pick it up once you’re there instead of waiting in line at the snack bar. Turlock Festival of LightsThe Turlock “Festival of Lights” takes place Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Central Park. The city will hold its tree-lighting ceremony during the event.
