Released a few days ago, the new edition of the Los Angeles Louis Vuitton City Guide presents its selection of 400 addresses in Los Angeles, ranging from luxury hotels to charming boutique options, top-tier restaurants to neighborhood bistros, design shops to museums and fashion boutiques.

Edited by journalist and writer Alexis Chenu, with contributions from journalist Alexandra Cheney, author and art collector Claude Deloffre and journalist Pierre Léonforte, the latest edition invites Trixie Mattel as a guest, the first drag-queen to feature since the collection of city guides came out.

Told through a portrait, Mattel recounts her personal journey, her triggering after attending a screening of the film The Rocky Horror Picture Show, her fierce passion for Barbie, her beginnings as a drag queen and her recognition by the RuPaul Drag Race show, the TV show launched by RuPaul, and in which Mattel took part in 2014. A section is also dedicated to the drag queen’s relationship with the city of Los Angeles, and Hollywood where she lives.

“Hollywood rapidly became my natural habitat. For the rest, I use Uber and I don’t drive. Taxi apps have saved the lives of drag queens in so many ways. First of all, who would take a drag queen seriously at the wheel?” said Mattel. “And more importantly, imagine leaving home with an inflatable bust, a huge wig on your head and wearing fifteen-centimetre heels! It’s also in Hollywood that I found my studio, all decked out in pink like the Barbie universe. That’s where I produce spots for my YouTube channel and where I store my fashion and doll collection.”

The fashion, accessories, beauty and jewelry section features a hundred addresses in Los Angeles, with a selection ranging from Bode to Brain Dead Fabrications, Decades, Departamento, Just One Eye, Mameg, Recess and Vintage on Hollywood, punctuated by Trixie Mattel’s favorite addresses.

“All of those graceless whores who ever at some point made fun of my personal style can all eat their hats. Meet me at The Roger Room for a stiff one,” commented Mattel, on the occasion of the guide’s release.

The Louis Vuitton City guides collection

Launched in 1998 by the publishing department of luxury house Louis Vuitton, the city guide collection presents a list of destinations revealed for the first time or updated. This year, the Paris City Guide invites skateboarding champion and neuroscientist Charlotte Hym, the Mexico City Guide invites architect Michel Rojkind, and the Milan City Guide invites architect-designer Cristina Celestino. Marrakech is also part, for the first time, of the new collection of city guides.
