This is a film festival known far more for its extravagance than it’s understatement, embodied this year by the breathtaking pear-shaped platinum Tiffany & Co. choker Anya Taylor-Joy wore to the premiere of her film, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, set with 68 carats of diamonds. Indeed, the choker has emerged as one of Cannes Film Festival’s biggest high jewellery trends this summer: note this year’s jury president Greta Gerwig oozing Old Hollywood glamour in Chopard, Léa Seydoux in sapphire-centered Louis Vuitton, and Helena Christensen debuting Pomellato’s signature gourmette chain dazzling with no fewer than 2,000 white diamonds.
