Amazon’s top-selling beauty product is a £6 spot sticker with 26k 5-star reviews

Have you ever wondered what Amazon’s best-selling beauty product is? We have, which is why we did a bit of digging and found out, to our surprise, the top-bought item in the beauty category on Amazon.com is a bargain spot sticker brand that has racked up nearly 26k 5-star reviews thanks to its ‘miracle’ patches.

If you’re a pimple patch user then you might even recognise this brand, Dots for Spots. A 24-pack of their Translucent Hydrocolloid Pimple Patches will set you back £6.29 here, which is a very low-cost solution if you’re prone to persistent breakouts.

The hydrocolloid stickers work by creating a moist environment and optimum conditions for your spot to heal while also acting as a protective cover to prevent picking, touching or popping. Pop one over a spot and it’ll get to work minimising the appearance of redness and active breakouts. For best results, the brand recommends wearing the dot for 6+ hours, or simply leave on overnight. You can tell the pimple patch is ready to be removed when the translucent centre turns an opaque white, signalling the gunk has been pulled out.

If you’re sceptical about how well a simple sticker can work on an inflamed pimple, you only need to scan the review section to see the ‘miracle’ claims have been backed up by before and after images as well as glowing praise.

“These are really impressive,” one five-star reviewer pens. “After a few hours, they soaked up all the gunk and the spot is completely flat. (Basically the same as those Compeed blister patches). They are thin and translucent so you can feasibly wear them outside. Quite expensive especially if you have loads of spots at once, but they are the only effective thing at actually getting rid of them overnight so I’d say it’s worth it. I wish I had these as a teenager!!”

A second says: “I have just ordered my second box of these (I wasted the first ones on tiny whiteheads!!) they worked REALLY well on my spots pictured. By the next day, they had calmed down dramatically. This was my result a week later, no scarring! I think it helps if the spot has popped before putting the patch on (mine did whilst washing my face). These spots have totally cleared up. I’ve used the patches on under the skin hormonal acne and LOVE that they stop me from touching the area/spreading bacteria.”

Though the majority of buyers have given these stickers four or five stars, a couple of less good reviews note that they weren’t always able to keep the patch stuck on their skin for as long as directed. Not sure what I think of this. Had a boil that was just about to come through the skin so put one of the dots on. Had it on for about. 7 hours during the day but it kept trying to peel off,” one writes.
