‘My wife uses beauty filters on our young daughters, I’m mildly disturbed’

A dad has expressed his outrage over his wife’s use of beauty filters on their young daughters’ photos before sharing them online. The anonymous man took to Reddit’s popular Mildly Infuriating thread to vent about the issue, explaining that he found his wife’s digital enhancement of their children’s images unsettling. He said that he was “mildly disturbed.”

Social media users were quick to share their thoughts in the comments. The post was titled: “My wife uses beauty filters on pictures of our kids and posts them online.”

It read: “My wife posts a lot of Instagram pictures and will take pictures of our children (six- and four-year-old girls) which is fine. However, she highly edits these pictures and uses some kind of supermodel filter on them which to me looks weird and unnatural.

“She’s convinced they look so good – I’m over here mildly disturbed.”

In the comments, the husband further explained that he found it “weird” that his wife was “thirsty for attention,” adding: “We’re in our 30s, and she legit has a husband.”

“Our daughters are too young yet to know anything about it. They just smile and pose,” he shared.

“I definitely disagree with some of the things she does. It’s weird as hell and it’s not just me (for some reason I thought maybe I was crazy).

“Things are gonna have to change.”

The post sparked a heated debate among readers.

Most people agreed with the father, as one penned: “She’s setting your kids up for major problems with unrealistic beauty standards.”

“Somebody is setting their kids up for a bunch of body image issues when they get older,” another shared.

A third noted: “Basically the message is, ‘you don’t look fine like you are. Let mommy fix you. We don’t want anybody to see you how you really look.”

Meanwhile, another added: “Body issues and stranger issues! Why do people post pictures of their kids online?!? Especially all glammed up – it’s pretty disturbing.”

Several users implied that the mother shouldnt expose her kids online in any way.

One person voiced out: “I would not post my kids online at all – too many weirdos.”

“Take a closer look at who’s genuinely looking at those photos your wife keeps posting online. It’s NOT other mommies!” warned another user.

“Those pictures land in some unsavoury corners of the internet. Your wife seeking validation from strangers on social media using your kids, is truly alarming,” wrote another.

Another user advised: “Maybe refrain from posting your children on social media? It seems there has to be a serious discussion about this.”
