The Parisian dressage hair at Tamara Ralph’s Couture show was something else
Tamara Ralph always embodies the glamour of Couture Fashion Week, and for autumn/winter 2024 the designer’s show conjured an ethereal tale of Parisian sophistication and romance.
One of our favourite details of the models’ aesthetic was the hair, expertly executed – as ever – by the leading London hairdresser Larry King.
“This season we took inspiration for the hair for Tamara Ralph’s show from the divine perfectionism of dressage and the timeless elegance that it brings,” he tells Harper’s Bazaar. “Taking hints from equestrian elements, the perfectly neat buns covered with wide mesh net draped delicately across faces under perfect little hats, while exaggerated super-long ponytails were tied neatly with a multitude of black velvet bows that swished gently as they graced the catwalk.”
He kept the models’ hair soft and shiny, with enough body for the “plump-looking ponys” and plush buns. Key to this was his brand’s My Nanna’s Mousse – used to prep, smooth and shine the hair, plus his Flyaway Kit (comprising the A Social Life For Your Hair finishing cream and a dual-ended bamboo brush and comb), which polished any flyaways and maintained that perfectly kept finish.
So far this season at Couture Fashion Week in Paris we’ve also seen some sophisticated looks on the front rows, with the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Rosamund Pike, Kylie Jenner and Karlie Kloss all donning refined up-dos to complement their chic ensembles for the occasion. With many more high-profile shows to come, from the likes of Chanel and Valentino, expect to see more breathtaking beauty looks both on the runways and off in the coming days.
