The Arc Makes Cents, Too Thrift Shop in Egg Harbor Township is a locally donated clothing and goods store in the community. In the 10,000 square feet it holds ten employees that work part time and full time, as well as loyal volunteers and people with intellectual developmental disabilities in The Arc of Atlantic County program since 2018.
“One hundred percent of the proceeds from sales made at The Arc Makes Cents Too Thrift Shop go back into the programs and services that enhance the lives of local individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities,” Mary Ruley Moyer said, Director of Development & Community Outreach.
“When I first started working here it was a whole new atmosphere for me,” Store Manager, Sandy McDow said. “ It is a great organization in the community where everyone is passionate and we integrate fundamental life skills that can be applicable for the real world to ensure everyone in the program is confident and can make a living on their own.”

The Arc Makes Cents Too offers a wide variety of new and used clothing from boutiques, new mattresses, shoes, accessories, jewelry, household decor, toys, books and so much more. The thrift shop inspects each item for the quality and does intensive research in pricing the items.
“Finding out we won Gold for Best Thrift Shop, we were all so excited and filled with joy because we did it! We were able to win because of our friendly customer service, teamwork,our workers and volunteers, the promotion of our merchandise and our wonderful customers,” McDown said.
The Arc Makes Cents Too Thrift Shop is an Atlantic City favorite, previously won for the Best Thrift Shop in 2022 for silver and 2021 and 2020 for gold.
“It is important to treat everyone with respect and kindness, working here is very rewarding in itself but winning gold for Best Thrift shop is truly an honor and achievement,” McDow said.
