Homecoming Weekend in Starkville is always a great time, and an evening kickoff means you have all day to experience Mississippi’s College Town. From shopping and entertainment in the Cotton District to epic tailgating at The Junction, you can’t go wrong with these local favorites.
Kickstart your morning at one of our popular breakfast spots. Arepas Coffee + Bar cooks up authentic Venezuelan cuisine and fresh roasted coffee. NutriGroove is a local favorite for delicious smoothies, teas, bagels, wraps and toasts. Or head if you’re craving something sweet, stop by Shipley’s for some of the best donuts you’ll ever try.
Next, it’s time to shop for fall weather essentials at some of the South’s finest boutiques. Stop by I Just Have to Have it for the latest clothing, accessories, jewelry, bags and gameday gear. Milk and Honey is another must on your list for great seasonal finds. And if you need to keep your significant other busy, send him to Spring Street Cigars for a gameday stogey.
Before you make your way to The Junction for tailgating, you’ll need to refuel with food and beverage. Since 1982, Harvey’s has been a local favorite serving quality salads, soups, burgers, sandwiches, seafood, steak and more. The portions are large, so come hungry!
There are plenty of bars to choose from in Mississippi’s College Town. Tucked in an alley behind Restaurant Tyler, The Guest Room might be Starkville’s best kept secret. They offer an intimate, seated experience, and feature one of the largest bourbon selections in the state. Another staple in the Cotton District is Bin 612, great for appetizers and cocktails before the big game.
No weekend in Starkville is complete without tailgating and visiting Mississippi State University. Make sure to head to The Junction, directly across from Davis Wade Stadium. Have a sweet treat at the MAFES Sale Store (or get some cheese to-go), less than a five-minute walk from the stadium. We recommend the muscadine ripple ice cream and Edam cheese!
