Makeover: A fresh cut and colour to match a creative and artistic personality

My client, Paula, was ready for an updated look and was frustrated with her previous haircut and colour. Her hair felt flat and drab and it wasn’t reflecting her creative and artistic personality.

Paula has very thick and naturally silver hair, which was previously coloured. She wanted a colour that would blend in with her natural silver so she could avoid having to touch up her root colour.

I applied a combination of highlights and lowlights of cool-blond and neutral-honey blond to create a dimensional finish, all while allowing her grey to blend through.

I cleansed her hair with Oribe Brilliance and Shine Shampoo and Conditioner, to provide added shine and moisture, and then cut her hair into a long and textured pixie silhouette. The beauty about this cut is that it’s a very versatile shape. While it’s shorter on the back and sides, it maintains length on top and through the bangs, making it soft, feminine and low-maintenance.

Before styling, I applied Oribe Foundation Mist and blow dried her hair using a paddle brush and a round brush. I customized the cut, eliminated the excess weight then finished styling it with Oribe AirStyle Flexible Finish Cream for flexible definition.

Makeup used:

I wanted to create a soft and demure look for Paula’s makeup. The focus was to even out her complexion and draw more attention to her beautiful blue eyes. I created a soft smoky shadow using an shimmery-brown eyeshadow stick and filled in her eyebrows to further frame her eyes. I chose a peachy-brown blush for her cheeks and used a nude-pink lip shade and gloss to pull the look together.
